This department was founded in 2016. Administratively, like animal resource department, the department is directly run by the university presidency. Taking the geographical distribution of Qaladza into account, having horticulture department is highly significant because the area has hundreds of acres of fertile land. The department endeavors to supply the area, and the country in general, with professional experts to develop and establish agricultural projects. The objective of the department is to prepare highly sophisticated experts for the field of agriculture working in quality assurance units, industrial projects for food production, and agricultural institutions. Also, it aims to encourage its students to have and manage their own horticultural projects.
As for the curriculum, English is the medium of instruction, and the students will be given necessary courses, both theoretically and practically, related to horticulture. Additionally, as a part of the curriculum, there is a practicum for the third year students. The total number of the students is twenty-two (first year) students: fifteen of them are females and the others are males.
