Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the plan, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including roads, bridges, canals, dams, buildings, airports, mega-structures, water treatment facilities, and waste management facilities.
Civil Engineering Department was founded in December 1st, 2015, according to university decree (Ref. No. 501) as a first engineering department at the University of Raparin belongs to the presidency of University of Raparin. Dr. Najmadeen M. Saeed is the head of department, since December 12th, 2015, according to university decree (Ref. No. 521).
The civil engineering program prepares a culturally diverse student population for successful professional careers in civil engineering at the local, regional and global levels. The program is designed to ensure excellence in multiple technical areas within the broad field of civil engineering, while emphasizing the role of general education, ethical and social responsibility, and life-long learning in the personal and professional growth of future civil engineers.
University of Raparin is a state university in Kurdistan Region-Iraq. Civil engineering department anticipates that the engineering and construction community will evolve quickly with several fundamental precepts for success. Among these, the premise that the engineers and construction of the future will continue to rely on fundamental engineering science and contemporary computational tools to guide their choices. We therefore choose to focus on fundamental engineering basic and the application of modern engineering tools.
Our civil engineering program will be acknowledged for their strong emphasis and rigor in engineering science, design and applications. The emphasis of civil engineering program will continue to be preparation of students for professional practice in the engineering and construction industries.
The objectives of Civil Engineering Department are:
